Meet The Teachers

Andrew has been playing for more than 20 years, having studied at Drum Tech and with some of the world's greatest drummers, including Kev Wilkinson (China Crisis), Steve Washington (Texas), Jason Bowld (Pitch Shifter), Charlie Morgan (Elton John) and Andy Leask. He is a versatile drummer due to his wide range of musical experience, from stadium gigs to radio and even musical theatre. He has spent many years gigging, both locally and nationally, and has toured abroad. Andrew has also played Glastonbury Festival and supported Pulp, Status Quo, James Taylor Quartet, The Average White Band and Kingmaker. He has a broad musical background as he has passed grades in piano, bass guitar, rhythm guitar, vocals, tuned percussion and Grades 1-8 in drum kit. He is a qualified music teacher, having gained a Certificate of Teaching from The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music and an ATCL performance diploma. He is also a member of the Vic Firth Education Team, The Swindon School of Contemporary Music and The Percussion Roadshow. Andrew currently runs his own busy teaching studios, employing several other drum teachers to help him teach more than 300 students. He also owns Rock and Roll Music, which prides itself on being a dedicated music outlet in Wiltshire and provides a high quality of advice, products and service, seven days a week. Between teaching and running the shop, he still manages to perform with his funk band, Superfly, and singer-songwriter Nina Nickelson, as well as lots of session work. He has endorsements with Vic Firth, Meinl Cymbals and Remo.


DJ started teaching seven years ago - initially coaching youth groups at the famed Rock School run by the Swindon Music Service, helping to form and mentor some of the up-and-coming names on the local music scene. He has been classically trained in guitar, including Spanish styles, and can teach up to and beyond Grade 8, having been successful himself in all the grades. He has great technical ability and a real vocation for music. DJ does work for Swindon Music Service and the Swindon Music Co-Operative, delivering new projects in local schools and inspiring the next generation. He also teaches ukulele and has a working knowledge of GarageBand. Having a broad musical influence, he is currently working on various projects, including his band When Words Fail, and he is currently working in conjunction with Tafary Hinds and Sierra Hurtt, whom he will be touring with next summer. He has toured belgium with his youth project, and has spent time working as a session musician for various reputable brands. DJ can also give assistance in songwriting and composing, and offers this service frequently to bands who need new material.

Jamie is a talented musician who has been studying drums for 12 years - eight of them with Andy Wraight - and teaching since gaining his Higher Diploma at the prestigious Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford. At ACM Jamie studied an array of musical skills, including harmony, melody, music business, audio poduction, tour and management production and performance skills. He has also been lucky enough to study with Pete Riley (Republica, and Guthrie Govan), Mike Sturgis (Lou Reed), Richard Brook (Girls Aloud, Rodger Daltry, Ozzy Osbourne) and Frank Tontoh (Amy Winehouse, Gary Barlow, George Michael). Jamie has played in numerous bands over the years, covering lots of different styles and genres, and now has a wealth of experience teaching a range of pupils, from small children to adults who are looking to be re-introduced to percussion.

Sean is an all-round musician who passed his Grade 8 drum kit exam before leaving school and has since been awarded a performance diploma with Rockschool (DipRSL). He has been a drum tutor for more than three years, and also teaches guitar and bass. Sean is the lead guitarist and chief songwriter with Swindon-based punk band The Cold Harbour, who played a successful tour of Poland and Germany in the summer of 2010, and Belgium and Germany in March 2011. The band, who recently passed 3,000 'likes' on their Facebook page, will be touring Germany, Sweden, Belgium and Austria in April 2012. Born and bred in Swindon and a former pupil of Kingsdown School, Sean says music continues to be his main interest, and as well as teaching and playing across the whole range of styles from jazz to rock, salsa to reggae and more, he is a keen listener. His tastes range from jazz drumming by greats such as Buddy Rich and Dave Weckl to music by The Beatles, The Beach Boys and modern bands such as Muse. He is currently teaching himself ukulele!
